alessandro pagni: l’ultima glaciazione

Found this amazing photo set on flickr, from alessandropagni, called l’ultima glaciazione:

block posters

I found this awhile back but I wanted to share because I think it’s pretty cool. I used it to make a huuuuge poster on my wall in my old house, and it was amazingly easy and quick. Basically, you upload your photo to Block Posters, and they give you some printing options on how you want to slice your photo, how many pages you want to use and what size. Also handy is they’ll tell you the final height and width, so it’s good for planning out your space. Then once you’re ready, you get a pdf of your image sliced up for you all ready to print. The quality is really good and they turn out pretty amazing. So easy! And what a cool way to get a large photo without paying hundreds of dollars for printing!

scanwiches

Seriously, what would we do without the internet? We would not be able to enjoy random things like Scanwiches, which is basically exactly what it sounds like, scans of sandwiches “for education and delight”. Amazing.

advertising amy

I think it’s interesting to note that a lot of female photographers are into self portraiture. That said, I do like it. I think when you pick a topic and really explore it, you can really perfect your photos and get some great images. I came across advertising amy on flickr, and I liked her self-portraits, I though they were really well done. Check out some of my favourites:

light-writing on lookbook

I like when I come across cool photos like this on lookbook, something different, you know? You can find cool photography anywhere. Yay internet!

it’s my own invention

Found this cool photographer on flickr, and I liked her My Autumn set. Plus summer seems to be over now, so it’s appropriately themed. Check out some of my favourites below, and also go to it’s my own invention on flickr, she also has a really cool 365 days set in progress, and I’ll be checking back to see more of that too!

vivian maier, her discovered work

Vivian Maier was an undiscovered (until now) street photographer from the 1950’s-1970’s. Her work was recently discovered at an auction in Chicago where she lived for 50 years, although she was originally from France. She was extremely prolific and over 40,000 medium format negatives were found. There is a blog set up where you can view some of these images, they’re really very amazing. I’ve posted a few that I liked, although there were so many that were really great, so check out the site for more.

michelle arcila

I came across this photographer Michelle Arcila, and I wanted to share. I love when photographers can make you wonder what exactly is going on in their photos and tell a story. Check out some of Michelle’s photo’s below, and visit her site for more:

dulce pinzon: superheros

I love this sorta stuff, superheros doing mundane everyday tasks, by photographer Dulce Pinzon. It goes a bit deeper than just being cute and funny though, as these are pictures of Mexican immigrant workers in New York in their actual jobs, who despite making very little money manage to send portions of their wages back to their families to support them. Check out some of my favourites below:
