I came across this pretty cool blog/zine called Blood of the Young Zine. They have lots of cool posts about photographers, and they put out a magazine too. Check out their latest issue, “Girls“. Click on the cover image to go to a pdf. Definitely interesting and worth viewing! I’ll be keeping an eye on their new content.

JPG Magazine is unlike other photo mags because all content is user submitted. Submit your photo online and other users vote on whether or not it’ll be considered for the issue. Each issue has various themes (genius) so it makes it a lot easier for people to know what to look for when they’re voting, so you’re not just getting all photos of one type at the top of the list, ie. naked girls. Even if you don’t want to get a subscription, which I highly recommend you do, even checking out the photos online is inspiring and will probably make you want to go take more photos, which is always a good thing.
The coolest thing is not just that content is user submitted, but that there is a lot of high quality work here. And anyone could potentially be published if your photo is good enough. Exciting!
One of the themes for the next issue is color theory, specifically photos that are mostly one color. Check out some of the amazing photos that have been submitted so far, you can see how different and varied the types of photos you’ll find are:
