home movies series: dinner!
I thought this was photomotion video (made with the Rebel XT) was really cute, and also the photography in it was great!
the shootsac lens bag
Having done some event photography in my day, I can endorse the aweseomeness of this product. The only camera bags I’ve been able to find up to this point are 1) ugly, 2) bulky and 3) often difficult to carry around and get stuff out of. The Shootsac Lens Bag solves all these problems! And it’s not only for lenses, there’s space it in for little things too, like your light meter or other gear. It’s not designed for transporting your stuff around, big bulky bags that protect all your gear are still going be better for that, but it’s specifically for walking around and shooting. Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before!
Check out the video below, it’s explains everything, and frankly, makes me wanna buy one RIGHT NOW:
glamourpuss
I saw this on Boing Boing a couple days ago and clearly I needed to post about it. Glamourpuss is a photo book featuring cats… in wigs. Amazing, right? Check out the promo video below and the Kitty Wigs website to learn more (or if you want to get some wigs for your own cat!)

china’s 60th anniversary on DSLR
Check out this amazing video of China’s 60th anniversary parade, shot entirely with DSLR’s (7D, 5DmkII and Nikon D700 to be specific) by Dan Chung. He states that the video is only lightly processed for color and contrast. Amazing!

looking down
I saw this awhile back, but I remembered it and went to look it up again. So cute! Plus, I want all these shoes.

photomotion: trees, they move
I’m getting all addicted to photomotion since I found the category on vimeo. I really like this one called “trees, they move” by rc cone, the music and the night time photos are so perfect together, check it out:

birds on the wires
Mixing two of my favourite things, photography and music. Jarbas Agnelli took this photo of birds on wires and translated the placement of birds into notes. He was just “curious to hear what melody the birds were creating.” Such a cool idea:

photosketch
Is this even real? If it is, it has blown my mind. PhotoSketch takes basic line drawings and turns them into totally believable photographs. Now people don’t even have to know how to use Photoshop to make composite images! It gets a bit scientific and technical, but interesting nonetheless. Watch the video and be amazed:
chase jarvis: the best camera
Photographer Chase Jarvis has release a new iPhone photo app called The Best Camera, as well as a new book to go along with it called The Best Camera Is The One That’s With You. You can find out all the info on thebestcamera.com.

The app looks pretty good, I haven’t tried it yet but it has a bunch of cool filters with cute names (jewel, paris, slate, candy, light, dark, fade, contrast, warm, cool, desaturate, vignette, square, frame) that make me want to try them. It gets even better though because the app lets you easily share your photos online, which I think is what a lot of photo app’s are lacking. So you can upload to Facebook, Twitter, email, or even to thebestcamera.com which is probably the most interesting option because then it will post the combination of filters you used, and in what order you used them so other people can get the same look.
I love the idea behind the app and the book, because I also believe everyone should take more photo, and why not use your phone? Also, the images from Chase’s book are pretty amazing considering they were taken on an iPhone. I love anything that reinforces the idea that it’s not the camera, but the photographer that makes a good image.
Check out this video and get inspired to start taking more mobile photos:
Here are some images from the book, The Best Camera Is The One That’s With You. Makes me want to make my own iPhone photo book!

timelapse street light with bugs
Normally I think bugs are kinda gross. But these timelapse photos of a streetlight with bugs flying around it are actually really beautiful. Who knew insects could make art?
